Are You Being The CEO Of Your Own Life?

To be your own CEO in your life you need to take your power back. Rather than life hitting you and allowing the chips to fall as they may maybe its time to see it differently. I came up with an acronym for CEO that helps you understand how important it is to pay attention to the decisions you are making on a daily basis that actually build your future. Be your own Choice Executive Officer of your life!

Choice from the Oxford Dictionary means “select or make a decision when faced with two or more possibilities.” Everyday we are faced with multiple decisions that impact us. The importance is to commit to being more invested in the choices you make because each one has a consequence. We make choices about ourselves, family, career, health, spending, saving, future planning, what we will wear, eat, where we will go, what we drive etc. Now imagine that you paid attention to these choices because you as a CEO decide to make choices that match the vision for yourself? You are consciously owning those choices to point yourself in the direction you want to be! You are now taking ownership for your life! Pretty bad ass!

Executive means you have the power to put plans into action and enforce them. What plans do you put into action for your life? It comes from the choices you make in order to execute the outcome you want. The planning can be intense because it requires digging into each area of your life that you want to improve. Is there a place in your life that you feel you could do better in? If it is finances then you need to devise a budget and stick to it. If it is getting into shape you need to execute a step by step plan to do that by choosing your workout strategy. If it is building better relationships then you need to decide to connect more with friends, family or colleagues. You get the picture. You cannot execute without having a solid plan to work off. So take some time to get clear on how you will get to where you want to be. 

Officer is is very powerful word! This means you have the honor of being in a place of authority! Think about that for a moment. You actually have the ability to be the authority in your own life! You are the one who can give yourself permission to achieve what it is that you want. Although we cannot change people, places or circumstances we can change how we respond to them. We have the authority which means the power or control over our own lives with the choices we make, the planning we do and the ability to carry it out. It is our sacred honor to be able to live our lives out the best we can. We are now taking charge of what we can control. We honor ourselves each day by being true to ourselves.

Thinking about being my own Choice Executive Officer has made me excited!! A CEO is the highest ranking person in a company. Why not be the highest ranking in my own life? A CEO owns the vision for the company, oversees performance, profits, builds relationships, future strategy, operations and growth. I look at this and think I want to be taking stock in these things for myself. I want to review my performance in the area I can improve. I want to grow. I want to work towards a vision for myself. I want to build wealth, health and happiness in my own life. To do this I need to have a CEO mindset. This would mean I am a visionary, I am forward thinking, I am result oriented and even inspiring! My mindset needs to be one of getting the job done. I may have to encourage myself to do it! As a leadership role it is up to me to see the areas that I need help in. If my mindset is off then I need to take care of myself to get to a better place constantly reminding myself I am resilient. 

We have much more charge of our lives than we give ourselves credit for. Taking time to give yourself the power to move in the direction you want doesn’t mean there won’t be challenges. It means you have the resources within yourself to find the best solution because you are paying attention. You may have to pivot. You may have to go to plan B. You may not want to do it. But you do it anyway because you are taking an ownership position in your life! You are now in a leadership role. Leaders fall and get back up. They don’t stay stuck. They are role models. Allow yourself to make mistakes. Know you will have setbacks. Most importantly believe in yourself that you have what it takes to live the best life you can. You are stronger then you think and braver than you know. You are the Choice Executive Officer in your life and be damn proud of it!
